This program is a live, in-person 2-day interactive workshop that will be held at the Inn at Longwood Medical in Boston, MA.

The educational content of this course will include several case-discussions that cover critically important and uniquely challenging areas in obesity care.

This course is designed specifically for healthcare providers and industry professionals who are more experienced in their knowledge of obesity medicine. It is recommended that participants have previously attended the Boston Course in Obesity Medicine within the past 2-3 years (this includes our online modular course that is currently available).   

As this course will be highly interactive and discussion-based, the amount of didactic presentations will be limited. Networking with expert faculty and professional development opportunities will be included in this program

    This course is a level one partner of the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM). Completion of the Core and Board Review Program provides educational qualification for the ABOM board examination

  • The Boston Course in Obesity Medicine was founded by Dr. Lee Kaplan, who was the Founding Director of the Harvard Blackburn Course in Obesity Medicine. Dr. Kaplan, along with other leaders and faculty of the Blackburn course, moved the course to Dartmouth Health in 2022 under a new name “The Boston Course in Obesity Medicine”

  • The Obesity Medicine Board Review is offered as a live-streamed program only. The lecture videos will be available for 4 months after the live-streaming period ends so it can be used as a study material for preparation for the ABOM exam

    You may register for the online only board review regardless of whether you decide to take the Core Program live or remote.

    Discounts are available if you add the Board Review to the Core Program

  • A minimum of 60 CME credits on the topic of obesity is required for certification. The credits must include at least 30 ABOM-designated GROUP ONE credits. The Boston course in Obesity Medicine qualifies for ABOM-designated group one credits. For further information please visit the ABOM website

  • Yes, in addition to the live/live-streamed course in June we also offer a modular, online only course. The educational material presented is from the 2023 live/live-streamed course. Please visit this site again in late October for more information
